Dear American People,
I am writing you to ask that we rearrange some of our holidays to better fit who we are as Americans. I believe it is time to add Super Bowl Monday to our Nation’s list of holidays.
What do we celebrate in January? Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday? I mean really? A dude had a dream of a free world… yea well… America’s pretty much the most culturally diverse country in the world, so let’s move on.
Then in February we have President’s Day. When was the last President’s Day BBQ you went to? Or the last conversation you had on President’s Day, about a President? Dumb holiday. Thanks for the day off.
Now let’s get serious. We add Super Bowl Monday and delete one of the above holidays. Super Bowl Monday allows a recovery day from Super Bowl Sunday. The Super Bowl is the most watched thing on television all year-long. Millions of houses across the country are packed with friends and family and chips and beer.
People should be able to enjoy this event without having to consider work the next day. Think of how this would stimulate the economy! Even more chips, beer, and wings will be sold. More parties, more fun, more shopping to prepare!
I know I am not the only person that hates dragging themself to work after a midnight ending to a Super Bowl followed by an after party. What?! This is America’s game, let us celebrate it! Create Super Bowl Monday and let it become February’s “4th of July” complete with fireworks and Bud Light.
Respectfully yours,
Xanax
p.s. Anyone offended by what I said about MLK’s b-day or President Day, feel free to write your Congressman about that too.

Or maybe the NFL could pull their head out of their ass and have the game on Saturday Night at 6:30pm, they have already been off for two weeks. But what the hell do I know
Nah it deserves a 3 day weekend
Ok you win, another day for all!!
Agreed…definitely needs to be a 3 day weekend…afterall, the other 2 you stated are and they are definitely not as popular with such a dynamic part of the American population!
Definitely deserves a 3 day weekend since the other holidays you mentioned do and they are not as dynamic or as popular as the Super Bowl to such a large portion of the American population…kudos to the Great idea!
A very good idea above, hold it on Saturday then you can go to work on the Monday.
America’s may be culturally diverse, i wish to differ about it’s people being free.
Big companies, gun lobby, religions run America, also trying to stop people on the net, i had better stop here
Don’t get me started on any of what you just said lol.
Jeanna, thats why i stopped, i could go on and on.
lol
it’s all good
Mr. Dribblingpensioner – Thank a Veteran for the freedom you think you do not have :/
Noneya, The only veterans i have to thank are the ones that fought in the two world wars, any other conflicts should not have taken place and we should not have been involved.
Oh wait wait wait wait. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but this is my blog, and one thing I absolutely demand on my blog is respect to our service members past/present/future. I noticed that your email address says @yahoo.co.uk anyway… soooo…? That explains why you are only thankful for America during the two world wars. HEAVY SIGH. To get back on point… the topic of the blog was taking an extra day off after the Super Bowl, which you wouldn’t get anyway, kind of like we don’t celebrated Boxing Day.
For the life of me, I don’t understand all the hype about football. Maybe I’m from another planet. I plan on going to a movie or something just to get away from all the craziness.
LOL that’s okay Lorna, it’s not for everyone. I’ve always loved it since I was a kid, used to watch it with my dad and it just stuck.
If you think American Football is crazy do not go to Europe during European FUTBOL Season. Everything shuts downs, and there are 500 people to every bar. The bad thing is the bars only holds 75 people, not many fire marshals I suspect LMAO
That’s true, I was in Italy for a FUTBOL game, that was a riot. People standing outside the bars screaming at little bitty televisions that I wasn’t even convinced they could see from where they were! It was intense!
Check out the Front Page story on Fox. Very weird how we were just talking about this yesterday and this happens

Jeanna, i will be watching the gridiron final for as long as my eyes stay open, because it does not start here until about mid-night.
I feel very strongly about needless war, lost lives and murder, as i have lived with it for over 30 years, i knew two young innocent boys murder at the age of 16 and 17 at work.
I think i might make a post about it.
Agreed…if the other 2 you mentioned got the Holiday status, so should the Super Bowl…afterall it is definitely more popular with 99% of the American public!
